KINDNESS AS A FORM OF STRENGTH

Choosing kindness, in a world underlined by microaggresions, is a power statement. A conscious decision to always rise above and see the good. The belief that softness is just one of the many portraits of strength, the same way the human body is both tender and extremely resilient. This duality is the central idea for No Ka ‘Oi’s Spring-Summer 2020 collection. Supple activewear pieces that cling to the body like second skin are softened by the color story of choice: sunset fuschia pinks, turquoise aqua tones, and a black-to-white dégradé print.
Monochrome pieces emblematic of the house are disrupted by cut-out detailing to expose the soft of the skin or reveal the sheen of a satiny lining. Soft fabric draping in the outerwear is juxtaposed with a structured shoulder, a sartorial signal for strength since the 80s. Mesh, a key material this season, are loose and free-flowing, acting less as a cage and more as an element for a layered look. The intention is to give the wearer enough room to move while never sacrificing the feeling of support.
